Psilohuasca: The Serpent and the Starflower A Heart Opening Sacrament of spiritual Vision, and Awakening

Priestess in a psilohuasca ceremony
Priestess in a psilohuasca ceremony

Beloved Children of the Earth Moon and Stars, Wanderers and seekers of realms seen and unseen -

There is a star-kissed mushroom, a sacred vine and a magical seed whose marriage opens a gateway into the temple of our own divine soul. This union is called Psilohuasca - a sacrament woven from the threads of ancient rainforest wisdom and cosmic mycelial intelligence. (Mycelial refers to the interconnected web-like structure of fungi.)

A Sacred Right/Rite Under Siege: The War on Plant Spirit Medicines

The war against plant spirit medicine is not merely a war against leaves and vines, roots, cacti and spores - it is a war against remembrance. A war against the flowering of consciousness, the rewilding of the spirit, and the awakening of the divine feminine and divine masculine codes that live within each of us.

For centuries, the stewards of the empire have feared the sovereign souls, the free thinkers and those with liberated spirits. They have outlawed many of the sacraments that open the heart, silence the ego, and dissolve the illusion of separation. This war is woven into colonial conquest, patriarchy, and the suppression of the sacred feminine & of Mother Nature, herself. It seeks to sever the ancient bond between humans and  Mother Earth, the ancient wisdom of the Priestesses and her Plant Queendom and the sacred connection between the seeker and Source.

Today, we feel the effects of this ongoing spiritual warfare. For example, Ayahuasca - once flowing freely into the hands of devoted facilitators and ceremonial seekers here in Canada and the United States - has, in just the past year of 2025, become nearly impossible to receive. Borders are being ordered to seize all ayahuasca. Shipments are vanishing, permissions are being revoked, and those who carry the wisdom of this Master Plant Teacher  are being targeted, arrested, imprisoned or silenced.

And yet - the plant spirit medicine path is resilient. The spirit of the plants cannot be destroyed. And the Light will prevail.

In the face of restriction, many plant spirit medicine facilitators have been called to adapt - guided by the whispers of Mother Earth herself to seek new allies, new combinations, new ceremonies that honor the same holy purpose: healing, remembrance, and awakening.

And so, from the fertile crossroads of tradition and transformation, Psilohuasca has emerged.

Priestess in Psilohuasca Ritual
Priestess in Psilohuasca Ritual

This sacrament - born from the sacred union of psilocybin mushrooms and MAO-inhibiting plants such as Banisteriopsis caapi (one of the components of traditional ayahuasca brews) or Syrian Rue Seed - offers a luminous alternative, a powerful yet gentle path for those of us seeking deep healing and spiritual communion.

Psilohuasca is not a substitute. She is her own divine intelligence, her own mythos. And yet, in this time of spiritual drought and cultural forgetting, she arrives like rain on the parched earth - an accessible, potent, and holy offering for those of us called to walk the sacred path of plant spirit medicine.

To sit in ceremony with Psilohuasca is to reclaim our birthright - to pray with Mother Earth, to see with our souls, to listen with our hearts, and to remember that our bodies are temples woven from her stardust and soil.

Psilohuasca is the alchemical blending of Psilocybin-containing mushrooms and an MAO-inhibiting plant, such as Banisteriopsis caapi or harmala-rich allies like Syrian Rue Seed (Peganum harmala). Together, these two spirit medicines entwine like two lovers in divine union, extending the visionary journey and deepening the heart’s capacity to feel, to heal, and to remember.

🤍 The Sacred Heart Awakens 🤍 At the heart of Psilohuasca lies the opening of the Anahata—the sacred heart center. As the psilocybin begins to sing its song within our blood, and the vine or rue holds space for us in their expansive embrace, many often experience a flood of compassion, forgiveness, and feelings of profound Love that cradle like the waves of the sea in the womb of the Great Ocean Mother. The walls we have built to survive begin to soften. Tears of release often begin to flow - not from sadness alone, but from the grace of finally feeling again from a place deep within from our own divine essence.

The sacred mushroom, known by many names across time and throughout many cultures - Teonanácatl, the flesh of the gods, the star-born fruit of the mycelial web - offers more than just vision. She brings healing to our hearts, soothing the aching wounds of abandonment, betrayal, and loss. Psilocybin has shown the power to dissolve the illusion of separation, helping the heart remember its own divine union with all. As fear melts in her luminous embrace, what remains is only Love - boundless, radiant, and wise.

As the mushroom’s spirit unfurls, psilocybin is gently transformed within the body into psilocin - the activated essence, the glowing blue flame of the sacrament. It is psilocin who dances across the synapses, unlocking the doors of perception and awakening the soul’s remembrance of its wholeness. In the presence of an MAO inhibitor such as caapi or rue, this conversion is potentiated and sustained, allowing the inner realms to open more fully and gracefully.

Psilocin is the sacred emissary who brings the mystical into the material. She binds to serotonin receptors in the brain, not only evoking visions but nurturing profound healing: softening depression, easing anxiety, and breaking cycles of trauma embedded deep within the nervous system. She enhances neuroplasticity, rewiring outdated mental loops and creating new bridges between thought and intuition, logic and feeling, self and Source.

While psilocybin initiates the journey, it is psilocin who walks you through the temple doors. She guides us into communion with the divine spark within and without, illuminating what longs to be seen, held, and transmuted. In her embrace, time loosens, the veil thins, and sacred remembrance arises. Spiritually, psilocin is a whisper of the Gods and Goddesses - fluid, intuitive, cosmic, and compassionate.

Psilocybin mushrooms are now being recognized by modern science for their powerful anti-depressant effects, offering hope and relief for those who have struggled in the shadows of depression, anxiety, and trauma. Clinical research has shown that even a single guided journey can lead to long-term improvements in mood, purpose, and emotional resilience. Spiritually, she is a balm for the weary soul, guiding us gently back into union with all that is sacred.

In the temple of this medicine, we are not asked to fix ourselves, but to witness ourselves with tenderness, to allow the garden of our being to bloom in its own divine timing.

The Eyes of the Soul are designed to Open

With gentle reverence and sometimes rapturous intensity, Psilohuasca can open our third eye, unveiling visions of archetypal beauty, divine geometry, ancestral messages, and cosmic remembrance. The mycelial intelligence of the sacred mushroom travels through the synapses of our spirit, while the MAO inhibitor slows time and deepens our presence, allowing our visions to expand and evolve with grace.

Many seekers describe encounters with spirit guides, elemental beings, plant deities, and even the presence of the Divine Mother and Father, shapeshifting through vine and spore to whisper the truths we are ready to receive.

The Spirit of Banisteriopsis Caapi Root Bark

Among all the sacred allies of the rainforest, none is more revered than Banisteriopsis caapi - the vine of the soul, the Grandmother of the Amazon, the living ladder between Mother Earth and the Heavenly Realms. Traditionally used in Ayahuasca brews by the Yawanawa, Shipibo, Quechua, and many other Indigenous nations, caapi root bark carries the spirit of deep purification, ancestral wisdom, and communion with the divine.

Caapi contains powerful harmala alkaloids - especially harmine and tetrahydroharmine - which act as natural MAO inhibitors, allowing psilocybin’s sacred visions to unfurl more slowly and luminously across our inner landscape. But she brings more than biochemical support, she brings deep spiritual presence and support.

The spirit of the caapi root bark is feminine, deeply maternal, and fiercely loving. She holds us through the storm, whispering songs of ancient jungle memory, guiding us gently through grief, truth, and ecstatic rebirth. Her energy is that of the cosmic womb - both death and new life. When journeyed with respectfully, she offers profound insight into generational trauma, soul contracts, and spiritual purpose.

Physically, caapi root bark has been studied for its neuroprotective, antidepressant, and anti-addictive properties. Spiritually, she is said to awaken the kundalini serpent, stir the dreambody, and open the energetic pathways to divine remembrance.

With psilocybin as her star-dancer and caapi as the grounding vine, the Psilohuasca experience becomes a holy weaving of Earth and Sky, Shadow and Light, Body and Spirit.

The Blessings of Syrian Rue

Though Banisteriopsis caapi is the vine most traditionally associated with ayahuasca, Syrian Rue - an ancient, flowering herb of the desert - has long been revered in mystical and magical traditions across Persia, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean.

Rich in harmine, harmaline, and harmalol, Syrian Rue opens the gates of perception in her own unique way. Her spirit is fiery, protective, and deeply introspective, guiding us into shadow realms and inner sanctums that often remain hidden beneath daily awareness. While Caapi is often described as maternal and nurturing, Syrian Rue is more like the Wise Crone or Desert Witch, offering fierce insight, psychic depth, and sacred boundaries.

When paired with psilocybin, Syrian Rue helps to amplify the mushroom’s visionary effects, deepen emotional awareness, and prolong the journey, often inducing powerful dream-like visions and spontaneous spiritual downloads. She is known for her mood-elevating qualities, her ability to disrupt negative mental patterns, and even for helping some seekers release the trauma held deep within their nervous system.

In traditional medicine, Syrian Rue has been used for centuries to ward off evil spirits, cleanse the aura, and protect the soul. Modern studies suggest she may also have neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, antidepressant, and anti-anxiety effects when used with reverence and proper dosage.

A Bridge Between Science & Spirit

Though born from intuition, Psilohuasca is now being explored by modern science. Research on its components—psilocybin and harmala alkaloids—has shown promising results in alleviating depression, PTSD, addiction, and anxiety. The extended duration and emotional depth offered by this union may allow for deeper integration and more profound therapeutic breakthroughs than psilocybin alone.

Recent studies from respected institutions confirm what priestesses and shamans have long known: that these sacraments can catalyze mystical experiences with lasting emotional and spiritual benefit. Participants frequently report a sense of oneness, interconnectedness, and inner peace long after the medicine has left their system.

Sacred Use and Divine Intention

As with all entheogenic sacraments, Psilohuasca should be approached with ritual, reverence, and responsibility. This is not a casual gateway, but a portal into the deep divine feminine and divine masculine mysteries of our soul. She calls us to prepare her with intention - through prayer, cleansing, DIETA’s, and humility, and to integrate what is received from her with care.

In this sacred journey, you may meet your inner child, the God or Goddess within, and the cosmic serpent that winds through all of creation. You may be asked to let go, to feel what you have avoided, to remember who you were before the world encouraged you to forget.

And through our communion with this holy sacrament - love will lead each and every one of us home. Love heals all & Love is the key to the Gates of the Heavenly Realms.

Meet Renee Boje,
the Founder of Plant Priestess Temple

_edited.jpg

Beneath the emerald canopy of the ancient jungles and forests, in the dance of moonlit glades and the whispering songs of the Wind and the sacred rivers, the Wise Plant Spirit Medicines of Mother Earth call to us. They are the keepers of memory, the sentient breath of Gaia Herself, and the luminous threads that weave the tapestry of divine consciousness across the ages. It is through these holy sacraments that we remember, that we return to our essence, and that we reclaim our rightful place as stewards of Mother Earth.

For far too long, humanity has been lost in a collective amnesia, severed from the wisdom of the roots, the language of the mycelial web, and the sacred communion with the plant spirits. This forgetting has birthed desecration: forests laid bare, waters poisoned, creatures driven to extinction, and the heartbeat of Gaia growing faint beneath the weight of soulless industry.

This is the time of the great awakening. The Divine Feminine is rising once again, anointing the soil, stirring the roots, whispering to all who will listen: The time has come to remember. The time has come to awaken.

In the forgotten Temples of the Ancient Priestesses, the wise ones spoke of this time—a time when the Great Mother would call Her children back into harmony, when the priestesses would return, when the earthkeepers, the way-showers, and the lightbearers would rise to guide humanity home. The ancestors sing of the prophecy, the mycelial web hums with it, the sacred medicines whisper to all who have ears to hear. The New Earth is not a place we wait for. It is a world we birth collectively through our awakening.

We must not be fooled by the noise, the fear, the illusions of those who cling to what is fading. We must stand firm in our knowing. Gather in sacred circles. Together We weave the new reality through our prayers, our songs, our rituals. We Call upon our ancestors, the spirits of the land, the cosmic mothers and fathers who have waited for this very moment.

This is the age of embodiment, of sacred action. No longer can we simply dream of the New Earth. We must become it. We must walk as living altars, as breathing prayers, as luminous bridges between the seen and unseen realms. We must reclaim the ancient ways—tending the land, honoring the cycles, birthing a world infused with the divine.

We are the weavers of the New Earth. With every seed we plant, every river we bless, with every child we teach to walk in harmony, we are spinning the golden thread of the future. The shift is not coming—it is here, and it flows through us.

I offer my deepest gratitude to Mother Earth and her Plant Spirit Medicine Queendom. I truly believe these Ancient, Wise Master Plant Teachers hold the key to saving  Mother Earth & all life upon her from extinction. As more and more humans are beginning to wake from their slumber these magical botanicals are here to support us in the global expansion of consciousness that is sweeping across our planet now.

My path has been one of deep remembrance, weaving through the histories of goddess traditions, the wisdom of priestesses who have walked before us, and the spiritual communion between women and Mother Nature’s sacred herbal medicines. This devotion has shaped my life’s work, leading me to write Plant Spirit Medicines & the Divine Feminine, a book that illuminates the mystical bond between women and the plant spirit realm. It has also called me to offer women’s plant spirit medicine ceremonies, where we embark on sacred DIETAS with flower and herbal allies,  entering into profound relationships with these ancient wise teachers.

Women carry within their cellular memory the ability to birth spirit into matter. I believe that the re-emergence of the Mystical Divine Feminine is a sacred response to help Mother Earth in her rebirthing process. As the Goddess reclaims her place in the realms of Mother Earth, she reminds us that all of life is sacred and has a divine purpose. The Priestesses of Mother Earth understand that she is the body of the Goddess, and when we wake up to our divinity, recognize the divinity of Mother Earth, expand our consciousness, and deepen our capacity to Love, we have the ability to co-create Heaven on Earth once again. Respect for Mother Earth is deeply interwoven with respect for the Divine Feminine, for she is the matrix of creation. Our planet and all of life upon it depend on humanity's ability to uplift the feminine in her role as the matrix of creation, for it is through her that all things are born and re-born.

My journey as a plant priestess began long ago. In 2002, I birthed the Urban Shaman, Vancouver's first entheogen shop. Then in 2006 I passed the torch to another to run the Urban Shaman & birthed Shakti Blissful Botanicals, a beloved sanctuary on Commercial Drive in Vancouver, where one could experience the sensual delight of herbal-infused aphrodisiac pies, blissful botanical smoothies, and soul-nourishing teas. This passion continued through Plant Priestess Botanicals, my online herbal boutique, where I handcraft sacred herbal infusions imbued with the wisdom of Mother Earth. Yet, beyond the creation of herbal medicines, my deepest calling is to hold space for women to remember their own sacredness and to heal and step into their power. So I began running women's healing ceremonies every new moon & full moon at Shakti & we had a packed house every ceremony.

This calling, to support women in their healing, led me to the heart of the Amazon.  I received a spiritual calling to immerse myself in the plant spirit medicine traditions of Brazil. One night, during a medicine ceremony in Vancouver, a song was sung that vibrated through my very soul—a frequency of remembrance. When I inquired about its origin, I learned it was a sacred saiti, a medicine song of the Yawanawa Tribe. In that moment, I knew with every fiber of my being that I needed to find them, to sit at their feet, and to learn the ways of their ancestors.

Little did I know, destiny awaited me upon my arrival. As I stepped off the boat and into the Yawanawa village, I was greeted by a woman who would become my spiritual teacher—Putanny Yawanawa. Along with her sister Hushahu, Putanny was among the first women to walk the path of shamanism within their tribe, courageously reclaiming a role long held only by men. Under her guidance, I experienced profound healing, unraveling soul memories of lifetimes intertwined. Before leaving the village Putanny asked me to make a sacred promise to her that I would one day bring her to stay in my home on the Sunshine Coast and to hold ceremonies for our women's temple. This is a promise I hold dear to my heart and look forward to fulfilling.

Since that fateful journey, my heart has been woven into the sacred lineage of the Yawanawa. I have dedicated myself to building a bridge between their ancient wisdom and the lands I call home, honoring their songs, ceremonies, and traditions while doing all I can to support the preservation of their sacred ways. Their teachings pulse within the heartbeat of our beautiful ceremonies.

In our women’s healing gatherings, we weave together song, spirit, and ceremony. We sing medicine songs to honor the plant allies and nature spirits that guide us, we drum to awaken the rhythms of Mother earth within our bodies, we dance ecstatically to free our souls, and we craft sacred infusions—herbal anointing oils, ritual bath blends, and enchanted elixirs—so that each woman may carry the magic of the ceremony home with her. These gatherings are portals, places of remembrance where we reclaim our divine connection to Mother Earth and to our own sacred power as her Daughters and Priestesses.

In addition to these ceremonies, I offer Spiritual Counseling to support women on their journey of healing and transformation. If you feel called to learn more, you are welcome to reach out via email or text me at 604-346-7376 to arrange a time to connect.

I am also an advocate for our birthright as humans to commune with all of the plants Mother Earth has provided for us. I have long believed that there is a silent war against Mother Nature and her Plant Spirit Medicines—this is, in truth, a war against higher consciousness itself. It is the expansion of the collective consciousness that will save Mother Earth, and this mission is at the heart of my work.

As Canada’s first Cannabis Refugee, I spent ten years passionately advocating for the right to access cannabis and other sacred plant medicines. I am also deeply devoted to protecting humanity’s right to commune with Plant Spirit Medicines.

I co-founded a Plant Spirit Medicine Aya Church, where I facilitated healing ceremonies for ten years in Vancouver. My work continues to be a reflection of my passion for supporting women in stepping into their divine power through sacred ceremony, with the support of plant spirit medicine allies that hold the space for our spiritual growth and ascension.

Today, I am blessed to reside on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, where I facilitate Women’s Plant Spirit Medicine Ceremonies and own and operate Plant Priestess Botanicals, a herbal boutique specializing in blissful and consciousness-expanding herbal medicines. My mission is to support women in reclaiming their sacredness, awakening their divinity, and stepping into their power as co-creators of a new Earth.

I hold a deep knowing in my heart that women carry the power to midwife the rebirth of a new world, and it is through our connection to the Divine Feminine, Mother Earth & her Sacred Plant Medicines that we can bring about the transformation we seek.
